Profile
Salford Community Walking Football Club is the 2019 incarnation originally formed as Manchester Community Walking Football Club in April 2017, taking over from a successful ALFA Sport programme that began in 2015.
We now have over 100 registered players, with 90 players playing regularly at our indoor and outdoor sessions at sports venues in Irlam and Salford.
We have qualified first aiders and Manchester FA Grade 1 certified coaches, and all our sessions are open access, but especially aimed at over 50’s and those with health conditions. Have a look at the Extra Time pages to read our players’ stories.
Our main aim is to have fun with a kick-about with our contemporaries and peers. You’ll find that feeling of well-being tops up the benefits in improved physical and mental health.
For those who want that bit more competition, we contest local, regional, national and international tournaments. We operate an inclusive ideal to give all who want a competitive game the opportunity to take part in tournaments and competitive fixtures.
We have entered multiple teams including the FA/BBC People’s Cup and have had representatives playing overseas challenges in Portugal and Italy.
We run social events to include friends and family in our community ethos. The club also raises funds for worthy causes and makes donations to local charities.
So, if you want to get active, have fun and meet brilliant new people, then just get in touch. We look forward to seeing you at one of our sessions soon.
If you are not sure walking football is for you or your ability, give it a try at the Irlam session on Friday. If you want to jump straight in you’re welcome at any session.
