YOGITS TOUCH RUGBY CLUB @YogitsRFC: TryFest – a thread
On a sunny Ystrad Saturday in June, around 200 Touch rugby players descended on the Rec for the First Ever ‘Yogits TryFest’ to compete for the Brian Westall Trophy.
As hosts, we had the honour of entering 2 sides in the 10 team Vets Touch tournament (the Greens and the Bears) and our Walking side also took part in a 3 team round robin. These games run simultaneously alongside a 6 team women’s tournament.
The Bears kicked the day off and had a mixed day of results with 2 draws and 2 defeats in the group stage before a 2-1 Win followed in the 7th/8th place play off.
The Greens had a more successful day with 3 wins and 1 draw in their group, meaning they would take on Banos Old Boys for the Brian Westall Trophy. A tense game ended in 1-1 draw with both teams agreeing to share the trophy, showing the true spirit of Vets Touch.

The Pelenna Saxonettes were perfect in the Women’s tournament – winning all 5 of their games and going on to lift the Brian Westall Women’s Trophy.
Finally, the walking round robin was an all-local affair with our boys joining forces with Ystradgynlais RFC Wild Stallions to make a 3rd BaaBaa’s team.
1 win, 1 draw and 2 defeats followed for the Yogits.
We’d like to thank Ystradgynlais RFC for their support and hosting duties, it was great to see the club patio area packed out after the tournament whilst all teams mingled with each other.
Finally, we’d like to thank Brian’s Family for supporting us with the day and we hope we did him proud
Time to relax and recharge and focus on TryFest 2025
