Advantage! Barrow Raiders Community Foundation, a registered charity within Barrow Raiders RLFC, utilised the NHS Population Health Investment Funding to encourage adults and elderly residents within Barrow and Ulverston to get more active.

The funding was used to enable Advantage! To host a variety of physical activity sessions each week including chair-based exercise sessions in community centres and residential care homes, walking rugby sessions, a wellbeing walking group, weekly bootcamps and multi-fitness activities for adults with long term and health wellbeing conditions.

Jean, a regular member of the exercise groups said: its such good fun and they are so nice and encourage me when I feel I’m not doing so well. They make my day and I really like it when we do the exercises to music.”

The Population Health Investment Fund was established to encourage community-led responses in helping to address the inequalities in health across Morecambe Bay.
