Berkshire Cricket is delighted to announce the launch of Walking Cricket Berkshire, a new countywide initiative set to roll out in 2026, designed to help people aged 50 and over stay active, connected and involved in the game they love.
Walking Cricket is a low-impact, inclusive version of traditional cricket, played at a slower pace and tailored to accommodate all fitness levels. Games are typically played in teams of six to eight players using softer balls and lightweight bats, meaning no protective equipment is required. The format makes the game accessible, sociable and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of prior cricketing experience.
The initiative aims to support physical health, mental wellbeing and social connection across Berkshire. By bringing people together for weekly sessions and social activities throughout the year, Walking Cricket helps to reduce isolation while offering a fun and welcoming environment.
