A walking tennis festival brought together fun, fitness, and friendship.
The inaugural Age UK Devon Walking Tennis Festival took place on Tuesday, June 17 at Sidford Tennis Club, with more than 40 players from across East Devon taking part in the event.
The day began with a warm-up led by Andy and Claire from Taylormade Rehabilitation Clinic, followed by co-ordination drills delivered by LTA coaches Sue and Katie.
Players then had the chance to try walking tennis using lower-compression balls on different court sizes.
The highlight of the event was a Walking Triples competition featuring 12 teams of three.
After nearly two hours of friendly competition, the final saw the Smiling Strollers defeat the Walkaholics to claim victory.
Nick Fish, chairman of Sidford Tennis Club, presented the trophies…
Sue Wiltshire, an LTA coach with Sid Valley Tennis who runs three weekly sessions, will also be delivering a walking tennis session at the upcoming Exwick Walking Sports Festival on Sunday, July 20, from 1pm to 4pm.
