Oxstalls Sports Park aces it with tennis inclusivity award

Oxstalls Sports Park has continued its run of success by securing the Tennis Opened Up LTA Award from Gloucestershire Tennis.

The venue is operated by not-for-profit leisure trust Freedom Leisure on behalf of Gloucester City Council.

This prestigious award recognises Oxstalls’ unwavering commitment to making tennis more inclusive and accessible through its diverse and innovative range of programmes, including wheelchair tennis, visually impaired tennis, special educational needs sessions and walking tennis.

A major strength of Oxstalls is its dedication to engaging under-represented groups through creative and sustainable opportunities. Last April the venue hosted the Parastanding Event, demonstrating its commitment to disability tennis and earning Parastanding Regional Hub status in recognition of its high standard of inclusive delivery.

Oxstalls has also developed a thriving walking tennis network, inviting neighbouring venues and community groups to join social sessions that regularly attract 20 or more players. These initiatives foster confidence, connection and a lifelong love of tennis while strengthening the local community and promoting inclusive participation for all ages and abilities…
