The Fakenham Walking Rugby Group, part of a growing sport in Norfolk, will host the event on June 7, attracting teams from at least six local clubs.
The sport, which caters mainly to players over 40 and welcomes both men and women, has seen increasing interest.
Around 40pc of Fakenham’s members are female.
Walking rugby is known for its simple rules and appeal to those with no previous experience, though former netball players often excel.
The game is designed to be enjoyable while promoting gentle fitness.
The Fakenham Walking Rugby Group organises sessions every Wednesday evening, with floodlights in use during the winter months.
With the arrival of lighter evenings, organisers are encouraging more people to try out the sport.
Jeffrey Pearce, the organiser, can be contacted at jdpearce@btinternet.com for more information.
