Over 30 enthusiastic players gathered at Street End Cricket Club last week for a sun-soaked Walking Cricket Festival that brought together hubs from across the county. Representing Canterbury, Maidstone, Sittingbourne and Folkestone, each hub team played three fast-paced matches in a celebration of cricket, community, and active ageing.
The event was a brilliant showcase of the growing walking cricket movement, which encourages physical activity and social connection in a fun, inclusive format. The games were played in great spirit, with plenty of skill, laughter, and friendly rivalry on show throughout the day.

After a series of closely contested matches, it was the Folkestone Hub who emerged as the overall winners – a testament to their teamwork and consistency on the pitch.
To round off the festival, players, volunteers and supporters were treated to a superb cricket tea kindly provided by Street End Cricket Club – a perfect way to finish a memorable day.
Walking Cricket continues to go from strength to strength across the region, and events like this demonstrate the power of sport to bring people together and keep communities active and connected.
