Last call to try walking netball

Netball Taranaki is running a low-impact, no-running, no-jumping alternative to the classic netball game and there’s just one week left to try it.

Called walking netball, it was a great option for people who had been out of the game for a while, who were recovering from injuries, or who were getting older, netball development co-ordinator Zara Eru said.

“You still get a good work out, get to utilise your ball skills and practise your shooting technique, but it is gentler on your joints.

“It is all about getting active and having fun. We have mothers and daughters playing together, which is great to see.”

Tamara Merriman of New Plymouth said she had played netball most of her life and was “really loving” the chance to get out on a court again.

“As a former premier league player, the thought of not being able to play netball again due to my knee injuries was heartbreaking…
