UPDATE NOV 2021 – Session has been benefiting from the support of Wigan Athletic Community Trust and has moved to Wigan Athletic Youth Academy on Stadium Way for the winter period.
Running every Friday between 2pm-4pm, the free session provides women over 16 with chance to rekindle their love of the game

Women’s walking football is about to begin at Winstanley Warriors Football Club, Wigan. Sessions will start on Friday 30th April 2021, 2.30pm – 4pm
With purpose built FA Approved 4G training facilities, full size grass pitches, changing rooms and even a social club all on site our aim is to bring together a community that will enjoy this slower paced form of football as well as being part of an active social group.
Sessions are run by experienced female coaches who are practiced at coaching from beginner level of walking football. Each session will include a warm-up and 30 minute dedicated coaching session to help you develop your skills followed by a small scale group game. As walking football is played at a slower pace with only limited physical contact our aim is to make it safe and enjoyable for all players.
As well as being a fantastic way to keep healthy, walking football is also a great social sport and a super way to make new friends. So if you’re 35 years old or older and already an experienced player or a beginner wanting to try Walking Football for the first time, then please come along. Players are invited from Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and surrounding areas.
The first session is FREE and you will meet a great bunch of women who enjoy playing football, keeping fit and having a laugh whilst staying active.
All abilities are welcome and we hope later in the year that you will be able to just turn up and play, but to ensure our activities are covid secure in the meantime we ask you to contact the group admin via email to confirm your attendance.
Hand sanitiser will be available and temperature checks will be in operation.
What to wear / bring:
The sessions take place outdoors on our FA Approved 4G training pitch, so please wear trainers or moulded boots and comfortable clothes suitable for the activity. It is advisable to bring a bottle of water with you.
