You might think it’s all over…but with new sport Walking Football it doesn’t have to be time to hang up your boots.
Walking Football is a slow-paced version of the beautiful game aimed at the over 50s. It’s designed to help people keep active, as well as getting former players, male and female, back on the pitch to recapture the excitement of competitive sport while improving cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, joint mobility and concentration skills. As the name suggests, Walking Football is non-contact and anyone who sprints, runs or jogs while the ball is in play will be penalised with a free-kick awarded to the other team.
Run in conjunction with the Surrey FA, one hour sessions will take place every Thursday between 4pm and 5pm on our FIFA rated 3G artificial surface. Walking Football is ideally for men and women aged 50+ and can be played regardless of physical ability and experience.
There are many older adults who love sport, and in particular football, but feel that they can’t participate in traditional programmes due to falling health and fitness levels. It’s ideal for that particular group. Walking Football in Whyteleafe will attract a great mix of people to get together for fitness and fun. And it really doesn’t matter if you’ve never played before.
