Walking Netball is a fantastic way to enjoy the sport of netball at a more relaxed pace. It’s designed to be inclusive and accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels. Here’s what you need to know:
What is Walking Netball?
It’s a modified version of netball where, as the name suggests, players walk instead of run. This simple change makes the game much lower impact and easier on the joints.
The rules are similar to traditional netball, with a few key differences to accommodate the walking pace.
Key Differences in Rules: No running or jumping: Players must always have at least one foot on the ground.
Extra step allowed: Players can take an extra step with the ball compared to regular netball.
Longer time to hold the ball: Players have 4 seconds to hold the ball instead of 3.
Benefits of Walking Netball: Improved fitness: It provides a gentle form of exercise that can improve cardiovascular health, strength, and balance.
Social interaction: It’s a great way to meet new people and be part of a team.
Inclusivity: It’s suitable for people who may have injuries, mobility issues, or haven’t played netball in a long time.
Fun and enjoyment: It’s a fun and engaging way to stay active and enjoy the spirit of netball.
