The Walking Rugby section of Lowestoft & Yarmouth Rugby Club now have their own shirts and identity as the L&Y 79ers. The 79ers is a reference to the year the Club was founded in 1879.
The shirts were sponsored by locally based firms Tredwell Developments Ltd, R&G Cooper Engineering Ltd and Charity & Taylor Ltd.
The Walking Rugby Section meet on a Monday evening at 7 – 8.30pm, sessions are open to all to attend, no previous experience of the game is required. A two-handed touch above the waist replaces a tackle, the game is played with a size 4 (smaller) ball to assist in handling and passing, tries are scored by walking over the try line.
