The slower-paced version of England’s national sport bans all forms of running, though slogging, seamers and spin bowling are all still very much a part of the game.

The sessions, run by Age UK and Darwen Cricket Club, are free to take part in and open to anyone aged 50 and over who either wants to keep playing their beloved sport at a more leisurely pace or for people looking to get into the game in their older years.

The slower form of the game has seen steady growth around the country, with more and more older people getting involved, with opportunities for people to play for their county and even play at the Home of Cricket, Lord’s.
