Walking basketball is making a return to the Lakes Entrance Recreation Hall, with weekly sessions set to resume from Friday, October 16.
The program is open to anyone aged 45 and over, catering equally to complete beginners who have never picked up a basketball, former players looking to return to the court and individuals recovering from injury.
Running every Friday morning from 9.30am, each structured session includes a light warm-up, basketball skill-building drills, a game of walking basketball, and an informal social morning tea where participants can connect over a cup of tea or coffee.
The modified, low-impact sport is tailored to suit all fitness levels and athletic backgrounds, offering a gentle way to stay active and build social connections.
Intending participants only need to bring a drink bottle, wear comfortable running shoes, and bring a positive attitude.
Registration for the program is required via the PlayHQ online platform. Organisers have confirmed that assistance with the digital registration process will be available on-site, with coordinator Rachael available on the day to help anyone experiencing technical difficulties.
