Our Walking Netball sessions at the Life Centre help women of all ages form connections and stay active and healthy for longer, by delivering netball activity in a fun and positive environment with zero judgement or pressure.
Walking netball story
Sharon, who leads the sessions, has created a relaxed, informal environment that welcomes newcomers and those looking to relive their childhood memories. Sharon takes the time to connect with each participant, ensuring everyone feels supported and valued every step of the way. The sessions have helped many women including Bethan who has reconnected with the sport she loves. Bethan shared, “I used to play at school, but due to an injury, I couldn’t play regular netball anymore.” Others stated that they had joined for fulfilling retirement activities or a break from caregiving duties.
- Walking Netball Legends Never Jump is the perfect gift for the Walking Netball vintage players who work hard to keep a foot on the ground. It makes perfect gifts for those who play the right way. A vintage gift to give, or bag one for yourself.

Participants have praised the social aspect of the sessions, with many forming new friendships. Hilary said, “I’m happy to socialise more in a group, and I’ve made some really good friends.” Teresa added, “It’s a nice social circle, and I’m getting involved in tournaments again.”
The off-the-court experience is as important as the on-the-court experience, so thanks to the Active Travel Social Prescribing funding, we are able to offer complimentary tea and coffee to encourage socialising after each session. Many have shared how participating in walking netball has inspired them to try new activities and feel more active overall. When asked about how walking netball makes them feel, Nicola responded,
“It makes me feel young again,” while Debbie said, “I love being part of a team.”
“Taking the first step is hard, but you won’t look back” – Debbie
