Carlisle is set to hold its first-ever Active Travel Walking Festival next month.

The five-day festival, named ‘Walk This Way’, aims to promote walking as a simple, accessible way to improve physical and mental health.

It will run from May 4 to May 8 and has been organised by Active Cumbria’s Travel Actively Carlisle team, coinciding with Living Streets National Walking Month.

Organisers said: “Walk This Way Festival is all about community, movement, and fun. Expect a packed programme of themed walks happening across Carlisle, with local groups and organisations joining forces to bring this exciting event to life.

“From family-friendly rambles, scavenger hunt, nature walks, social strolls with refreshments and even the chance to try walking football there’s something for everyone – no matter your pace or experience.”
