Walk Leicester Festival is back!

Leicester has a lot to offer and the Walk Leicester Festival in May is the perfect time to explore the city on foot. Step out with us in this month-long celebration of walking and its benefits for our health, happiness, and the environment. Find your favourite walk and be sure to join us in our celebration of walking throughout National Walking Month.

We have a variety of free group walks and walking events taking place, find our list of events below. Full details of walks and walking activities will become available over the course of the month. Click through to the Eventbrite pages for details of each event and to book your place.

Walking Sports Festival

As part of National Walking Month, we have brought together the community teams of Leicester’s sports clubs, to create a walking sports programme at Spinney Hill Park. Anybody can try walking sports and it is a great way for people to build regular activity into their lives and make new friends.

The FREE Walking Sports programme kicks off with a social meet and greet session on Tuesday 18 April from 10am – 11am at Wesley Hall, 76 Hartington Rd, Leicester LE2 0GN. Come along to find out more about United Leicester, a collaboration of the city’s professional clubs and their community outreach teams.

Regular sessions will then take place weekly from Tuesday 25  April to Tuesday 23 May from 10am – 12pm in Spinney Hill Park, near to the ball courts

Timetable:

  • Tuesday 18 April: Meet and Greet session at Wesley Hall, 76 Hartington Road
  • Tuesday 25 April:  Multisports – Spinney Hill Park
  • Tuesday 2 May:  Football – Spinney Hill Park
  • Tuesday 9 May:  Cricket – Spinney Hill Park
  • Tuesday 16 May: Hockey – Spinney Hill Park
  • Tuesday 25 May: Rugby – Spinney Hill Park

Dress for the weather – remember to dress appropriately for the weather. Our events will go ahead in most weather. We recommend the following:

  • Comfortable sturdy footwear
  • Bring a raincoat or umbrella in case of rain
  • On cooler days wear appropriate layers and a coat/jacket
  • On hot days wear sun protection (hat, sun screen)
  • Please bring a bottle of water with you
