A new health and social activity is being launched to support people living with Parkinson’s in a more active lifestyle.

Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre has announced a weekly walking tennis session designed specifically for those with Parkinson’s, starting Thursday, July 9, from 10am to 11am.

The sessions aim to improve mobility and wellbeing through gentle physical activity in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Rob Ward, programme manager at Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre, said: “Come and try our new weekly walking tennis session, no experience needed at all, we have a warm friendly environment within the centre and it will be a great opportunity to get active at your own pace and most importantly socialise with people over a coffee or tea.”

The sessions will be led by experienced instructors, with all equipment provided.
Carers and relatives are also welcome to take part or watch.
Benefits of walking tennis for people with Parkinson’s may include improved balance, mobility, coordination, memory, wellbeing, and social interaction.
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable active clothing and footwear suitable for tennis, and to bring water, snacks, and any medication they may need.
