The Crediton RFC Walking Rugby group crossed the Severn to take part in an ‘international’ festival at Taffs Well with 16 teams from either side of the border. Intended as a fun game, scores aren’t kept but good sportsmanship rewarded.
Crediton demonstrated the inclusivity of the game, fielding a squad that was the oldest on the day and featured three female players, not daunted by all-male teams.
Taffs ‘third-half’ hospitality included a curry of immense portions, a band and two bars that were much needed after a day in the sun.
The group next pitch their gazebo at Topsham’s Festival.
One of the growing range of ‘walking’ sports aimed at those who are not looking for athletic activity, but want to be active, make some friends and have fun; the Crediton walking rugby group meets at the Rugby Club at 6.30pm on Tuesday and Friday evenings.
The group welcomes new members and invites those who are interested to come along to a session to join in or see the range of activities and how the game is played.
