Leamington’s Walking Rugby Team were in action on Saturday, and celebrated title success with a final win over neighbours and rivals Old Leamingtonians.
On a warm spring day, the Warwickshire Walking Rugby Festival was hosted at Moorefields and Leamington were looking to defend the title they won in 2025.
A strong squad – including a number who refused to give their ages! – played five group games, winning four and drawing one.
Progressing from their pool, they met a strong and robust Earlsdon team in the semi-final.
At full time and with the scores level, the match went into extra time, where a ’golden try’ would decide the outcome. After some great handling and support play, Leamington took the win.
They met OLs in the final and, as is always the case in a local derby, the game was very competitive with Leamington winning by four tries to two.
With eight teams taking part and more thanover 100 players of all ages, and many sides including Leamington fielding mixed teams that day, it was a great advert for Walking Rugby.
