Walking Cricket: keeping independent for longer

6 Jan 2026 1 min read No comments Walking Cricket News

The Kent Cricket Foundation’s Walking Cricket Programme has expanded it’s offering.

The NHS suggests 150 minutes of moderate activity a week – which we know can sound daunting. One of our aims this year is to show those aged 55 and over that it is achievable and, perhaps, even fun too.

Walking Cricket Programme

In partnership with Movement and More, led by Louisa Arnold, we recently hosted a taster workshop with activities that support improved coordination, balance and strength. After a brief introduction on how these skills can help participants “stay independent for longer,” enthusiasm to begin was clear. While some activities proved challenging, participants recognized the value of regular sessions in supporting their ability to play cricket.

Walking Cricket Programme

The Walking Cricket Programme has consistently received positive feedback for enhancing mental and physical well-being. With targeted activities designed to not only improve walking cricket performance but support aging well, the benefits of this partnership are undeniable. We’re excited to strengthen our collaboration with Movement and More this year as we work together to develop a comprehensive programme.
