St Helen’s walking cricketers gained revenge for their home defeat at the hands of Southport in October, when they notched a convincing victory on their visit to Dunes Leisure Centre recently.
Augmented by locals Nick Hughes and Tony Elwood, the Saints put the Southport bowling to the sword, totalling 111 in their 20 overs, despite useful spells from Andy Sumner, Steve Porter and Dave Palmer.
That was no match for the Southport batting, who lost too many wickets to post a competitive total, although Andrew Lovelady and David Harris did their best.
Rod Mackenzie, Geoff Bowles, Peter Clucas and Billy Platt were the pick of the visiting bowlers.
Saints skipper George Davison said: “This was a pleasing victory with contributions from every player in what again was a competitive but friendly fixture.
“Many thanks to Southport for their generous hospitality during the game and post match drinks.
“We’re looking forward to our next encounter in 2026.”
The St Helen’s walking cricket group meets at Thatto Heath ARLFC every Wednesday at 10am.
