Inspired by campaigner Georgie Maynard, who has been raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity since being diagnosed with the disease herself, Ms Biltcliffe said she wanted to make a difference through an event rooted in her family’s love of basketball.

She said: “I felt empowered to also create an event in my small community of basketball players to give to this research.

“Whilst Bubba won’t ever have the benefit of this, it will give hope to help those who could be receiving the diagnosis in the future.”

So far, £2,398 has been raised towards a £2,500 target through a Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/abingdon-eagles-basketball

Ms Biltcliffe’s family have close ties to Abingdon Eagles Basketball Club.

Both her parents play on the club’s walking basketball team, her husband Stuart coaches two junior teams, and her sons are part of the Forever Eagles group.

The event will begin at 6pm and be held at Abingdon and Witney College.
