Pete Halsall, co-ordinator of the Auld Greys, said the sessions provide “an opportunity to have a great time, get some exercise and to feel good.

“We want to help carers and those with dementia alike.”

The group has also launched monthly dementia-friendly rugby sessions at Kendal Rugby Club, designed for people living with dementia and their carers.

Led by Auld Greys members, these hour-long sessions focus on simple rugby skills like throwing and catching, gentle teamwork, and friendly competition in a relaxed setting.

The sessions end with tea, conversation, and time to connect with others.

Jenny Connor from Dignity in Dementia said: “The number of smiling faces that filled the room was phenomenal and the feedback that we’ve had has been wonderful.”
